Welcome to Oosting family Eye care!

Welcome to Oosting Family Eye Care! We have been at 9 West Main Street in Fremont for over 65 years, offering the highest level of quality eye care for your family. We specialize in individualized service and make sure you are treated like one of our family. It starts when you are greeted by name by our staff, and continues with a one-on-one with Dr. David Oosting during your eye examination. We don't believe in "handing you off" to another staff person until you have completed your frame and lens selection or contact lens training with Dr. Dave.

We also love kids!

We participate in the InfantSee (R) program, which provides a free eye examination for any child under the age of 12 months. Dr. Dave also offers a free vision screening for any 3 year-old, to identify any vision or eye muscle problems before a child starts school.

If you've been missing this kind of care, then we just might be what you've been looking for!

Take a moment to look over our site and give us any comments.

Learn Who We Are

  • Dr.
    David Oosting
Dr. David Oosting is a second-generation optometrist who came back to his hometown to carry on his father's legacy. His daughter is also an optometrist, currently practicing in the Salt Lake City area. A graduate of Indiana University, he has been in practice since 1975, specializing in eye care tailored to the specific needs of his patients. He has been an adjunct Clinical Professor at the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University for the past 12 years. Dr. Dave and wife Barbara are members of Church of the Living Christ in Fremont and have led eye mission trips to the island of St. Lucia for 10 years, bringing much-needed vision care through an organization known as Volunteer Optometrists in Service to Humanity (VOSH). For more information, go to vosh.org.
  • Pat Wight
Say 'hi' to Pat Wight. Pat is one of our front desk staff who will help you with your registration and history forms as we start the welcoming process. She can answer most of your insurance questions since she is our primary insurance biller. In her spare time, she likes to scrapbook or visit Shipshewana with her husband (bless his heart).
  • Sharon Triplett
Sharon Triplett is our award-winning resident visual artist/window display designer, as well as managing our recall system. She always has a ready smile and, despite working for an Indiana University graduate (Dr. Dave) she bleeds 'maize and blue.'
  • Barbara Oosting
Here's Barbara Oosting with one of her quilt projects which are on display in our office. She works at the front desk to help out a couple of days a week, and she's always happy to talk with people about her quilts. Even if you don't need our eye care help right now, stop in to see her handiwork!
